Her turning moment came a couple of years ago, when she saw a little boy “as cute as they come,” wearing a pair of shoes that exposed his feet.
“While he was waiting (to visit the nurse), although he looked cheerful, I noticed that he made a concerted effort to tuck his feet under the chair as though he were trying to hide them,” she said.
