Eat This Not That!

Our Mission 4 Nutrition Program has a component called "Don't Eat This - Eat That!" which is a program tailored from the book (See Home page at the bottom for more details on the books recommended for this program) "Eat This Not That".  This is a very important and easy way to modify cooking and eating habits for both kids and their entire families.

Helpful and Humorous Food Tips:

1. Snack on fruits and veggies all throughout cooking and by the time the food is ready, you won't be so hungry.  It also works if you munch on these items before going to the grocery store.

2. Never go to the grocery store hungry. It will eat you alive!  Everything looks appetizing in the grocery store when you're hungry (Well everything except brocolli and asparagus - the stuff we really could use a little more of). Don't even think you're exempt from the grocery store hunger finders.  The store will know you're hungry and even pop out coupons become "sexy". (Smile).

3. Late night munchies may mean that your dinner is too much carbs! Try to add more protein to your earlier meals. Remember, ProTein does rhyme with ProLean. (Was that funny?)Surprised

4. Don't  throw in the towel just because you're "splurging." Use whole-wheat bread in your grilled cheese.

5. Even a tiny potted herb garden can help you bring fresh flavor to jazz up fish, egg whites, chicken or rice and since they say it is good to talk to plants, you can tell them all about the good they're going to do in the pots.
